On Feb 25, 2026 (9PM HKT), Dr Ewan Wright from CHELP @ EdUHK will speak on about his mixed-methods project examining Hong Kong's flagship initiative to create a globally-influential education hub through the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme. The HKPFS aims to attract the “best and brightest” PhD candidates from around the world and Ewan's presentation discusses PhD students’ motivations for choosing Hong Kong, their academic and social experiences, and their subsequent career outcomes. It also addresses the policy implications for strengthening Hong Kong’s status as a world-class destination for doctoral study. On March 24, 2026 (9PM HKT), Dr Antigoni Papadimitrou from State University of New York will share insights from the study involving the top 25 U.S. universities with the highest-ranked computer science programs. Her investigation focuses on policies encompassing teaching, learning, research, and innovation, and analyzes how these policies use a framework that includes five key concepts: data ethics, data protection, fairness and equity, responsibility/accountability, and transparency/auditing. On April 23, 2026 (9PM HKT), Dr Yevheniia Polishchuk from Kyiv National Economics University will share results of a nationwide study assessing the impact of the Ukrainian scientific diaspora on Ukraine’s recovery. Based on a survey of 300 Ukrainian scientists working abroad, her research explores the scholars' engagement, motivation, barriers to cooperation, and potential mechanisms for sustainable collaboration.
