As you know, the CHER meeting in Rijeka had to be postponed for next year. However, the Board considered that it would be important to have a moment for the “CHER Family” to meet, even if online, and to discuss the impacts of the pandemic in higher education.

Hence, we have organised a Panel with colleagues that have been collecting data about the impact of the pandemic in different dimensions of higher education in different countries.

The panel is scheduled for the 4th of September at 14h00 (CET) and the programme is the following:

  • Gaële Goastellec (U. Lausanne and Chair of CHER) - Coordinator
  • Richard Watermeyer (U. Bristol) - Impact in Students
  • Maria Yudkevich (HSE - Moscow) - Impact in Academics and Academic Careers
  • Cláudia Sarrico (CIPES, U. Lisbon, and OECD) - Impact in Research and in Researchers

The participants’ short bios are available here.

The idea would be to have an initial round of short interventions (ca. 10 min), followed by discussion with participants. The session is expected to last for around 1h30, though we can go a bit beyond that, if necessary.

In case you are unable to participate in the live session, we are planning to record the session and to make it available for all members.

Looking forward to see you all in the session!

Pedro Teixeira and Gaële Goastellec
