Dr. Yingxin “Margaret” Liu, Lecturer at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, China, and Dr. Lilan Chen, Assistant professor at Osaka University, Japan, are pleased to announce a call for papers for a special issue on the Gender Gap in Academic Research, to be published in Humanities and Social Sciences Communications, a highly regarded SSCI and A&CHI Q1 journal in the Nature Research Journal series. They invite scholars and researchers interested in gender issues to contribute high-quality, original research articles, theoretical papers, and empirical studies that explore various aspects of this important topic.

Student participation

The Finnish Institute for Educational Research is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Researcher in research on cultural literacy and social inclusion starting November 1, 2024 (or as agreed) until December 31, 2026

The Postdoctoral Researcher will work in the Horizon Europe-funded project Advancing Cultural Literacy for Social Inclusion through Dialogical Arts Education (d@rts) and other similar tasks. The d@rts project investigates how performing arts education in formal and non-formal contexts (all levels of education) can reimagine cultural literacy as a dialogical practice, that enhances social cohesion and inclusion. The project aims to understand how cultural literacy competence is formed in the context of performing arts education (music, dance, drama) build tools for assessing cultural literacy, and give policy recommendations that can build long-term social inclusion.

Postdoctoral Researcher

A 3-year fully funded Ph.D. position (possible extension by one year with teaching obligations) is available at the Research Group Governance and Leadership in the Public Sector (GOLEP) of the Department of Political Science and Management. Research focuses on public institutions at all levels as well as their interaction with non-public institutions and civil society. The research group has a comparative perspective on several policy areas, such as Nordic and international health services and higher education. It is expected that the candidate’s project is of relevance for the research group.
